With five en-suite guestrooms, it can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably. Made up of two houses connected by a walkway, the main house overlooks the 20m pool and padi fields, while the valley house sits on the edge of a ridge which over looks the lush valley of the river Wos.
Villa Amala’s design was conceived by Robin Bimantoro of Triloka Architects and Lucia Boey of Lucia Boey Design Studio. In close consultation with the owners, they came up with a concept that imbibed the basic traditions of Balinese architecture with the simple lines of modern design. Together with the well acknowledged experience of Paul Tendean’s construction company, Amala came about.
ACCOMMODATION
The layout of Villa Amala allows two families with children to holiday very comfortably and with enough living areas to afford adequate privacy. Alternatively it is also a suitable get-away for 4–5 couples to “chill out” in the peaceful and harmonizing atmosphere of Sebali.
The main house contains a open dining area and large daybed overlooking the 20m pool and padi fields. It also houses the library, kitchen, a powder room and on the second level the master bedroom. The Master bedroom has a spacious veranda with two daybeds at each end. It is one of two rooms in the estate that has an exposed alang alang roof. The bathroom contains a bathtub cum shower and also an outdoor shower on the terrace.
The valley house has a open living area on the top floor with wide open verandas for dining al fresco. It also boasts a immense alang alang roof. Below this are two guest rooms sharing a veranda that overlook the valley. Both rooms are ensuite with partial outdoor showers and baths. On the ground level of the valley house there is a second master bedroom with a indoor bath and shower overlooking the valley as well as a outdoor shower in its own private garden.
Next to this is the TV room with a projector and screen to watch movies or catch the latest news on satellite TV. Alternatively this room is easily converted into another guest room with ensuite bathroom. A veranda fronts these two rooms and allows guests to walk out to the valley garden or have breakfast with the morning sun rising over the valley. A bale sits at the edge of the garden overlooking the valley and rice terraces.
Our cook will be able to prepare both local and western cuisine. Villa guests are free to discuss with the cook the menu for each meal who will then do the marketing and guests need only pay the cost of the food bought.
Within a 15 min car ride of Amala, you will have the choice of a varied selection of restaurants, Terrazzo, Batan Waru, Bebek Bengil, Ary’s Warung, and Mosaic to name but a few.

An hour and fifteen minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai international airport, Ubud is Bali’s centre for fine arts, dance and music; while the surrounding villages are home to Bali’s most accomplished painters, dancers, musicians and carvers. This remarkable town is encompassed by magnificent terraced rice fields, rivers, traditional villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples and palaces. It is located 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of the central mountain range; this gives it a fresher, more pleasant climate than the southern coastal regions.
The numerous art galleries in Ubud feature traditional and modern work; the museums showcase the island’s rich history, and the shops and the market stalls sell handicrafts, jewellery, woodcarvings, textiles, paintings and antiques. Each of the four bedrooms features red-hued hardwood floors, double sliding glass and louvre doors that open onto the terrace, en-suite bathrooms, fitted wardrobes and safety deposit boxes.
The ‘Master Bedroom’ is furnished in a contemporary style, enhanced by a bell jar ceiling lantern, Indonesian artefacts and paintings by local artists. Louvre doors lead into a dressing room, fitted with a chunky marble washbasin and teak cabinets and adjacent to the bathroom, with its marble bathtub and shower. The glassless windows in the bathroom allow the cool breezes to permeate, and provide lovely views of the main garden area and swimming pool bordering the river valley.
The ‘Red Room’ is characterised by red accessories such as the lamps and paintings; and the ‘Cinnamon Room’ by the spicy-scented cinnamon stick arrangement in the vase above the bed. Both of these bedrooms feature a private garden bathroom with a marble bathtub surrounded by walls and leafy shrubs.

The garden is shaded by verdant jungle foliage and filled with an abundance of brightly coloured, sweet-scented tropical flowers and plants. A gnarled frangipani tree overhangs the enticing swimming pool; the water appears to cascade over the curved infinity edge into the backdrop of banana plants, bamboo, and towering coconut palms. A large relaxation gazebo, known as a ‘Bale Bengong’, is situated next to the pool and offers the comfort of cushioned daybeds. Sunloungers are positioned on the white Palimanan stone patio; hand-carved paras stone statues and garden lamps create a romantic ambience. The constant sound of the fast flowing Petanu River, as it carves its way through the steep gorge below, is accompanied by the melody of birdsong and cicadas.

Villa Kirana is an arguably one of the most beautiful, fully-appointed five bedroom private rental villas in Bali. It overlooks the Ayung river gorge with breathtaking views of Bali’s major volcano range and distant rice field terraces.
As quoted by the architect Made Wijaya, “The design was inspired by Arne Hasselquist’s “David Bowie House” in Mustique, on which I had worked with Linda Garland. It is a water garden with pavilions on a view. I added elements of the Malay house, the Balinese Balé and the Baronial guesthouses of the hill stations in Dutch colonial times.” The house is very open, very transparent – the garden and scenic views are a treat as one moves around the detached palace.
The villa owners were very supportive of the idea of different atmospheres in each of the bedrooms, interspersed with tranquil and airy public areas. Morocco Berber rugs and lamps were imported to add color, and soften the predominantly stone and timber architecture.
Local sculptor Pintor Sirait worked on the suspended staircase and porte-cochere and Ubud-born artist Wayan Cemul carved all the bases of the stilt houses near the swimming pool. The compound houses an interesting collection of Indonesian ethnic art – both built in, as doors and windows, or as artwork accents from Sumba, Nias, Kalimantan and North Sumatra, and a wide range of quality ikat textiles used in the soft furnishings.

You will feel a long way from the hustle and bustle of touristy areas, yet are only 20 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from the main shopping and restaurant areas. Secluded beaches are only 10 minutes away where you can enjoy spectacular sunsets and stroll on white sand. An 18 hole championship golf course is 25 minutes away at Nusa Dua, while an 18 hole golf course, New Kuta Golf at the Pecatu Graha complex is only 5 minutes away.
A two story villa overlooking woodland and ocean, Casabelle is an idyllic home away from home. Casabelle has 3 bedrooms inside the main building and a separate guest house. The main building overlooks tropical gardens, a stunning infinity pool and deck.
Casabelle is designed with young children in mind and the pool is fenced off. Dreamland, Padang Padang, Batu Layah, Balangan, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua are the most famous beaches near Casabelle. The secluded white sandy beaches and surf breaks are well known amongst professional surfers. Families can enjoy strolling along the private beaches away from the crowds. Pack a picnic basket and work on your suntan, just make sure you always swim between the flags.
Uluwatu temple is Bali ’s guardian of the south. This ancient temple is situated on the tip of the cliff where, at sunset each day, a magnificent Kecak Dance is held with more than a hundred male dancers, performing the Ramayana epic.

Bedroom
Master Bedroom: Located on the second floor of the main building, this bedroom opens on to a spacious terrace with spectacular panoramic views over the woodland canopy and ocean. The terrace is a perfect hideaway to relax or enjoy massages with the sea breeze washing over you. The en-suite bathroom is a feature of the house with a walk-in wardrobe, a stand-alone bathtub and an outdoor shower, surrounded by spectacular views.
Children’s Rooms: The first children’s room has a door connecting it to the Master Bedroom. This room, decorated with moon, stars and with a lot of toys will suit younger members of the family. Next to it is the second children’s room, which is also suitable for other members of the family. The rooms both have double beds and share a bathroom with shower. Extra beds can be provided upon request.
Guest House: This is separate from the main building. It has a Balinese style outdoor shower, private outdoor lounge and a deck that leads to the pool. One of the rooms serves as a lounge area with satellite television, mini bar, safe deposit box and tea/coffee making facilities and also can be converted into a second bedroom.
An infinity salt water pool of 15 by 5 meters is flanked by a deck with sun-loungers which allow you to enjoy the spectacular views. Relax by the pool while staff cater to your needs. If you would like a massage or spa service let the staff know and well trained therapists can be booked and pamper you in the comfort of Casabelle.
An in house cook can provide delicious meals from the fully equipped modern kitchen or the barbeque. You can either eat outside on the terrace or inside with air conditioning for more intimate gatherings. Food and beverages can be pre- requested from an in-house menu.
In the TV Room, a large flat screened television shows all major international channels via satellite. There is also a DVD player with some of the latest movies. Next to it is a reading room which doubles as a childrens’ room which has a lot of games and toys for the younger guests.
